It’s official - Scottie Callaghan is on board with the team at Belaroma Coffee, working on a range of things with the company. Scottie will use the skills he has gained over the last 14 years in the hospitality industry, of which 6 years have been spent honing his understanding of all things coffee and the role of a barista.
Scottie was destined to work in the café industry because, for as long as he can remember, he has appreciated the importance of flavour. When he was young, Scottie would cook a lot for his family of nine – “Mum used to make porridge in the morning before we all got up, but some mornings I beat her to it and made the porridge for everyone. Some might think I was sucking up, but I honestly just loved cooking and still do.”
Nowadays, Scottie works full time for Belaroma Coffee as their Coffee Champion, working on blends and barista training to make sure the coffee served in cafés that use Belaroma Coffee is at the highest standard possible. Over the last two years Scottie has worked as a consultant to cafés, baristas and coffee companies teaching people the finer points of espresso preparation before joining the team at Belaroma recently.
